This course is designed for advanced study of math. It is based on the Beast academy series of books for grade 5 and Challenging Word Problems book 5. Homework is required. Assessment is required.
The main concepts are listed below:
Geometry: Angles Relations, angles relations in triangles and quadrilaterals, area of triangle, area and perimeter of composite shapes, volume of cuboids.
Number theory: Order of operations with rational numbers including rules for operations with exponents. Writing variable expressions to describe patterns and sequences.
Art of problem solving methods: Students continue to apply the methods they learned in previous years such as systematic listing, models, replace and restate with variables in order to solve complex word problems involved with fractions and decimals, ratio and percent, average and rate.
