ICA Summer Camp: Welcome children ages 6 to 16
For over 20 years, our goal has been to foster an environment of learning and fun!
Sample Schedule
9:00 AM-9:30 AM: Exercise Outdoors
Coaches and students will walk to the park, where they will warm up before their chess lessons.
9:30 AM-10:20 AM: Chess Lesson (Part I: Puzzle/Concepts)
Coaches will guide students through a concept for the day, targeted toward a specific area of their games depending on their level. Puzzles and exercises will help cement knowledge.
10:20 AM-10:30 AM: Short Intermission
10:30 AM-11:20 AM: Chess Lesson (Part 1I: Analysis)
Coaches will analyze hand-picked chess games, from the students or other players, to illustrate common techniques and critical thinking patterns that are necessary for growth in chess.
11:30 AM-12:30 PM: Outside Sports
Our counselors will encourage campers to head outdoors for some supervised fun! Our most popular pastimes include dodgeball, soccer and tag
12:30 PM - 1 PM: Lunch (bring your own!)
1:00 PM-3:00 PM: Tournament, Simuls, Art and Math classes
A camp-wide chess tournament separated by skill level. All levels participate! Students are required to play at least one game. After that they can participate in more chess related activities: simuls against coaches, problem solving competitions, game analysis; or take an Art or Math class
3:00 PM - 5 PM: Art, Math, Music and Chess classes
Students will be divided by age/grade level and rotate between Math, Art and Music classes. Chess enthusiasts will be able to participate in more chess related activities as well!
