Lecture and book signing followed by Blitz Tournament in two sections
LM Salomon is not only the last living person in the entire world to have played in a recorded game against the fourth world champion Alexander Alekhine, but also got two lessons from him (one on chess…and one on life)! The game was contested during World War 2, even as Gene and his family were stripped of their German citizenship (Gene’s father being Jewish, and successfully escaping a Nazi prison), and months before Alekhine’s untimely death.
A successful businessman, professor, high school chess coach, and author (having published his book “Sweet Memories” at age 94! https://a.co/d/0lRZJ7k) Gene will give a live lecture at our Teaneck location at 3pm on October 27th. He will cover the crucial position from his Alekhine game, as well as his game against GM Sargissian and possibly one more interesting position (time permitting).
Blitz (unrated) tournament will be in two sections: Unrated and Open. $50 prize to winner of each section.
