Welcome to the ICA FIDE Championship! This is a two-day, dual-rated tournament that is both FIDE and USCF rated.
Registration Fee and Information: The early bird registration fee is $100, while regular registration is $120. Free entry is available to Grandmasters (GMs), International Masters (IMs), and players rated 2400+ FIDE. Eligible players should email [email protected] to receive a registration coupon. Registration closes at 10 am on the day of the tournament or when we reach our capacity of 60 players.
Tournament Format: The event follows a 4-round Swiss-System format, with two rounds played each day. Time control is G110 with a 10-second delay. Pairings will be based on FIDE ratings.
Eligibility Requirements: Participants must have a published monthly rating of at least 1900 USCF or 1800 FIDE. All players must also hold a valid FIDE ID. U.S. players can request a USA-flagged FIDE ID at this link. Those seeking a FIDE ID with a non-USA federation must contact their respective chess federation.
Schedule: Rounds will be held as follows — Saturday: 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM; Sunday: 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
Byes: Players may request up to two half-point byes during the tournament. These must be submitted before the start of Round 2.
Equipment: All players are required to bring their own clocks. Boards and chess sets will be provided.
Norms: Please note that FIDE norms will not be available at this event.
Late Arrivals: Will be handled according to standard USCF regulations.
Parents and Caregivers: There is a designated waiting area where parents and caregivers can supervise young players.
Parking and Directions: Ample parking is available behind the church, next to a small playground. After parking, enter through the door marked “International Chess Academy” and proceed to the second floor.
Public Transportation:
By Train: Glen Rock has two nearby NJ Transit stations — Glen Rock - Main Line and Glen Rock - Boro Hall — both within walking distance of ICA.
By Bus: Routes 164, 164B, 164E, and 175B all stop directly in front of ICA at Rock Road and Central Avenue.
